I volunteered to photograph the 2024 PNW Search and Rescue Dogs clinic in Washington. It was a blast shadowing a bunch of super smart dogs practicing what they do best. I was honored to capture the bond between handlers and dogs, as well as the dogs in work mode and subsequent play mode once work is finished. I was definitely stretched in my abilities with fast-moving subjects in low-light conditions and rain. A couple of dogs/owners became certified and also needed their class photos for the website. Enter total imposter syndrome. I mean, I’m just a girl with a camera who knows a few things, not an actual photographer. Ultimately, I aimed to capture the essence of the dog’s personality, and I believe I came close. I chose a small sampling of the over 250 I took.
